Today teachers at Sunrise Ridge Intermediate school along with the city of St. George and the BLM gave students a chance to get their hands dirty outside, planting a varitety of shrubs and trees.
It's part of Thunderbolt time.
Students who keep their grades up during the week get to pick an enrichment project to be a part of.
Some chose the month long ecosystem class.
They worked with city landscape architects to design the area on the north end of the school.
The BLM also stepped in, helping to pick shrubs and trees that could be used by local birds, bugs, and lizards.
All the time preparing finally paid off when the kids put their plan into action.
The project was partially funded by a small, service learning grant from the state.
