In Utah Every eight minutes, someone needs blood. That means the Red Cross has to collect 400 units a day to keep up with demand. But during summer months, people are busy meaning donation chairs are empty.
Red Cross officials say that with children out of school and with outdoor activities like swimming biking and ATV riding, accidents can cause the demand for blood to rise.
Red Cross officials are asking anyone who can help to either schedule an appointment to give blood or to just stop by the St. George donation center.
To schedule an appointment call 1-800-GIVE LIFE or stop by the St. George Donor Center located at 476 E Riverside Drive.
The local Red Cross is also in need of blood drives. If you would like to host a blood drive contact Rachel at 435-669-4636.
