(New Harmony, UT) - A Plain City woman was seriously injured Saturday in a collision with a semitrailer on I-15 near New Harmony.
The driver of the southbound semi "failed to negotiate a turn" in wet road conditions, crossed over the median and sideswiped the woman's Chevrolet Malibu at 2:50 p.m., according to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Steve Winward.
The woman was taken to an area hospital and later flown to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray for surgery on a broken arm. She also suffered several other broken bones and lacerations, Winward said. Three passengers in her car were treated for minor injuries.
The semi driver had a commercial driver's license but was completing training required by his employer, Winward said. He was cited for failure to maintain his lane of travel. The instructor was apparently asleep in the semi cab, Winward said.
