Qwest Awards Washington County School Teachers Technology Grants

By Jared Burton

(St. George, UT) - Qwest Communications awarded two Hurricane and three St. George teachers with several thousand dollars in Qwest Foundation Teachers and Technology grants Monday.

Qwest's President, Jerry Fenn, awarded the checks to the teachers and principals for the fourth year in which Qwest has awarded Utah teachers with funds for innovative technology used by teachers across the state to improve education in the classroom. The grants are administered by the Utah State Office of Education.

The Qwest Foundation's core principle is that investing in education provides lasting value for the future. The Qwest Foundation awards grants to community-based programs that generate high-impact measurable results, focusing on pre-K-12 education.

Washington County schools receiving grants included Hurricane Intermediate School, Millcreek High School, Little Valley Elementary School and Desert Hills Middle School.
