Cheri Stevenson grew up in Cedar City, Utah and graduated from Southern Utah University with a biology education major and dance performance minor. In 1996 she accepted her first teaching assignment as the dance teacher and drill team advisor at Cedar High School. In 1998, Cheri, her husband Brian, and their three boys moved to St. George, Utah. That same year Cheri was hired to teach seventh and eighth grade science at Dixie Middle School. In 2002 Cheri transferred to Pine View Middle School to teach eighth and ninth grade science.
After receiving a master degree in educational leadership from Southern Utah University in 2006, Cheri accepted a position as the assistant principal at Snow Canyon Middle School where she has served the past four years.
Snow Canyon Middle School opened in the fall of 1992 and is one of the five middle schools in the Washington County School District. The school is comprised of 8th and 9th grade students from the town of Gunlock, the Shivwitts Indian Reservation, the cities of Ivins and Santa Clara and the City of St. George neighborhoods of Dixie Downs, Entrada, Sunset, Graham and Shadow Mountain.
The school is part of the Snow Canyon Cone Site in which students attend Snow Canyon High School for their 10th, 11th and 12th grades. Feeder schools include Lava Ridge Intermediate (6th and 7th grade) and the following elementary schools (K-5) Red Mountain, Santa Clara, Sunset, Arrowhead, Dixie Downs and Coral Cliffs.
