(St. George, UT) – Dixie State College’s weekly noontime “Dixie Forum: A Window on the World” convocation series continues its “Great Faiths” discussions on Tuesday, Oct. 23rd, with a presentation on Atheism by forum series director and DSC Assistant Professor of History Dr. Joel A. Lewis. The Forum will begin at 12 noon, in the Dunford Auditorium of the Browning Resource Center on the DSC campus. Admission is free for all community members, DSC students, and faculty and staff.

Dr. Lewis earned his Ph.D. in Transnational and Comparative History at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. Prior to teaching at Dixie State, Dr. Lewis taught American, European, and world history at Central Michigan University and Saginaw Valley State University. In addition, Lewis is an ordained minister in the Universal Life Church, performing marriage ceremonies for non-denominational and inter-faith couples throughout the United States. Before becoming a minister, Lewis spent several years as a self-proclaimed atheist before returning to his faith and devoting his life to inter-faith ministry.

The weekly Dixie Forum series will continue its 2012 Fall Semester slate on Tuesday, Oct. 30th, with the fifth “Great Faiths” discussion in the series, featuring a presentation on Judaism by Rabbi Felipe Goodman.
