Dean graduated from Beaver High School in 1966 and continued his education at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. While attending he was drafted and served his country in the Vietnam War as a radio operator in the US Navy. He then continued his military service with the units of the 222nd as Battalion Supply Sergeant and the 97th Troop Command as Master Sergeant. After 29 years of military service to his country, he retired in 2001 and went to work for the US Forest Service in Beaver for ten years.
He loved camping, fishing, hunting and sports which included the Redskins when they were having a good season. He also enjoyed his trips to Mesquite with his wife Naomi. On numerous occasions other family members joined them. He always loved his time spent with his grand children and family.
Dean is survived by his wife Naomi; three daughters Tanya, Melissa and Jenna; brother Steve (Jay) of San Antonio, TX; sister Linda Sims of Sparks, NV; brother Greg (Lila) of Cedar City, UT; brother Mark of Beaver, UT; sister Carol Bowden (Penny Thill) of Reno, NV; aunt Donna (Ken Lytle) of Eagle Valley, NV; six grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Aunt Carla Lee and brother-in-law Dan Sims.
Viewing will be at The Swindlehurst Funeral Home in Beaver, UT (360 W 100 N) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday July 15th. Another viewing will be at the Beaver 2nd Ward Church (15 N 100 W) from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday July 16th followed by the funeral service.
