(BELMONT, CA) – Dixie State women’s soccer blasted 26 shots on Saturday against Notre Dame de Namur. Three of those aforementioned shots off the foot of sophomore Jennifer Mason found the back of the net as the Red Storm picked up win number one of the year, 4-2 over NDNU.

Mason scored the only goal of the first half and capped off her day with the go-ahead and insurance tallies late in the second half.

Dixie State improved to 1-2-2 on the year and more importantly started Pacific West Conference play with a win by out shooting the Argos (1-4, 0-1 PWC) 26 to 14 for the match.

Aarika Anderson assisted on the first Mason goal by threading a pass to the goal scorer in the 32nd minute.

Kimberly Thurman added to the slim lead after the halftime intermission off a failed clearing attempt from NDNU in the 58th minute.

The Argos would tie the match with a pair of Adriana Cortes goals from nearly 30 yards out.

Mason the went to work in the match’s final 10 minutes. With a helper from Kelsey Hansen, Mason looped a shot over the goalkeeper for the go-ahead tally. Five minutes later, Dacee Stephens set the stage with a long clearing pass over the goalie leading to Mason’s tap in.

Abby Johnson earned the victory in net making four saves.
