(St. George, UT) - St. George Police and Fire Department were dispatched to the report of a vehicle arson fire in a Middleton neighborhood early Tuesday. Captain James VanFleet said the incident ocurred about 12:30AM at 1000 North 2050 East.

Fire and police investigators are looking for two subjects seen running from the burning vehicle. One of the subjects appeared to be carrying a gas can as they fled the scene in a silver compact passenger car.

VanFleet said the car was owned by the LDS Church and used by missionaries living in the area. Police do not believe the crime is religious hate motivated, but have not ruled it out.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact St. George Police Detective Adam Olmstead at (435) 627-4319 or e-mail adam.olmstead@sgcity.org
