(St. George, UT) – The phrase “dump and go” could be used two separate ways on Thursday night at Hansen Stadium.

For one, Mother Nature was unkind to bothDixie State and Hawaii Pacific by unleashing consistent rain and cells of thunderstorms in and around the St. George community. Secondly, it accurately portrays an effective style employed by the Sea Warriors in a 1-0 win over the Red Storm in Pacific West Conference play.

After KaUa Wall deposited a shot in the back of the net in the 19th minute, Hawaii Pacific (4-7-1, 3-4-1 PWC)continuously sent long passes deep into the Dixie State defensive zone. With few exception late in the second half after a 30-minute lightning delay, the Red Storm (6-5-2, 6-3-0 PWC) fell short in attacking the net.

Dixie State took seven of their 13 shots after the unexpected break. Kiana Kaiwa stonewalled eight shots to preserve the shutout.

Abby Johnson, in the other net, made fivesaves and was in perpetual pursuit of incoming HPU clears.

Kaisa Goodman led DSC with three shots.

A season-long string of home matches completes Tuesday at 7 p.m. with the Antelopes of Grand Canyon University.
