(Cedar City, UT) - As Southern Utah Track & Field hosts the first home meet of the season, the SUU/NAU Dual, Thunderbird fans should keep an eye out for several highlighted events. The first of the marquee races that will take place in Eccles Coliseum are the men's and women's 100-meters.

    Men's 100-meter Dash

Sophomore Shaun Murray will likely lead the T-Birds in the 100-meter dash, having finished first in the 60-meter dash at the Summit League Indoor Championship with a season personal best of 6.90. Preston Myers will also represent Southern Utah in the sprint and currently holds a 10.80 personal record in the 100-meters.

    Women's 100-meter Dash

The women's field will include Northern Arizona sprinter Darriel Banks, who currently ranks second in the Big Sky with a time of 11.88. Lindsay Terry will be among the competing SUU sprinters with a personal best 100-meters time of 12.48, recorded in 2011. Terry also finished seventh in the 60-meter dash at the indoor conference championship with a time of 7.85.

    Women's 3,200-meter Run

The athletes will race in distances slight varied from the usual collegiate meet. Instead of a collegiate 3,000-meter run and 1,500-meter run, the distance teams will race in a 3,200-meter run and mile (1,600-meters).

Diana Medina-Mitchell will lead the Thunderbirds in the 3,200-meters, as well as Jamie Smith. Medina-Mitchell finished top in the 3,000-meters at the indoor conference championship and recorded a personal best time of 9:31.93, while Smith holds a personal best of 9:57.71 in the 3,000-meters. The women hope to finish the 3,200-meter run in under 10:20 at the home meet.

    Men's Mile Run

Indoor All-American Cameron Levins will lead the field in the men's mile with a personal best and Southern Utah record time of 3:57.16, and will attempt to record the first sub-four minute mile raced at Southern Utah.

Big Sky competitor Jordan Chipangama will lead NAU's mile team after a third-place conference finish during the indoor season. Chipangama also holds a sub-four minute personal best, having recorded a 3:59.47 finish at the NAU Tune-Up (converted from 4:08.50 at altitude).

The SUU/NAU Dual will begin at 2:00PM Saturday, March 31 and is expected to conclude by about 5:00PM.
