(Cedar City, UT) - Southern Utah University and Bryce Canyon National Park will celebrate and renew its pioneering educational partnership Friday. The first of its kind between the National Park Service and a university, the Alliance for Education is a formal agreement to collaborate and assist one another in a variety of programs that will best succeed with pooled resources and talent, to the benefit of students, the park and local communities.

The Alliance for Education advances the mission of both entities in serving the region by: offering exceptional educational and experiential opportunities for SUU students in a variety of academic programs, providing outdoor laboratory and classroom facilities to teach students while collecting valuable information for managing park resources, and collaborating with communities to enhance their economic, technological and cultural interests.

The Alliance renewal will mark the five-year anniversary since its inception on July 26, 2006. With countless examples of the benefits of such a partnership over the past five years, both organizations are excited to formalize their ongoing working relationship.

The singing ceremony will begin at 11:00AM on the Sunset Rim of Bryce Canyon National Park and will include National Park officials and staff as well as University administrators, faculty and students who have benefitted from this unique collaboration.
