(St. George, UT) - The Silver Anniversary Sears Dixie Invitational Art Show and Sale, recognized as one of the biggest art events in the state of Utah, enters its final week of public viewing this upcoming week at the Dolores Dore’ Eccles Fine Arts Center on the campus of Dixie State College of Utah.

Now in its 25th-year on the Dixie State College campus, the Sears Dixie Invitational Art Show and Sale features nearly 270 pieces of artwork from nearly 150 renowned artists from Utah and around the country.

This year’s Best of Show Purchase Prize and Best in Show honors were awarded to Jeremy Winborg from Hyde Park, Utah, for his oil painting “Shoshone Dolls.” For Winborg, this was his first Sears Dixie Invitational Purchase Prize award, which earned him the honor of serving as the adjucator for next year’s Sears Dixie Invitational. In addition, his work will now be a featured part of DSC’s Permanent Art Collection.

All artwork will remain on display through Sunday, March 25, 2012, in the Robert N. and Peggy Sears Art Museum Gallery located in the Dolores Dore’ Eccles Fine Arts Center at Dixie State College. Exhibit hours are 10:00AM to 6:00PM, Mondays through Saturdays, and 2:00PM to 6:00PM on Sundays. Call (435) 652-7909 for more information. The public is invited to view the exhibit free of charge.

Since the inaugural Sears Dixie Invitational Art Show in 1988, a percentage of each painting purchased has been allocated to help fund a permanent art gallery on the DSC campus. In 2005, the Invitational made its debut in the Sears Art Museum Gallery, appropriately named in honor of the show’s founders, the late Robert N. and Peggy Sears.
