(St. George, UT) - The 36th Annual St. George Marathon will be run on SR-18 on Saturday, October 6 from 5:15am–11:30am with the starting line in Central and finish line at Vernon Worthen Park in

St. George (250 E./300 S.) Runners from 49 states and 10 foreign countries are represented. In order to protect the 6000+ runners and over 1800 race volunteers, SR-18 will be closed throughout the race. Police units will secure the start line at 5:00am at Central/SR-18. South-bound traffic will be diverted through Central until 6:00 a.m. The entire 26.2 mile course will be secured at 6:00am, just above Central on the north and Snow Canyon Park-way on the south.

Residents attempting to travel on SR-18 during the event will experience lengthy delays. Any on-course travel will be by escort only. Utah Highway Patrolmen and Washington County Sheriff’s officers will be located at all intersections along the course to assist you if travel is absolutely necessary. The road closure at Central will proceed south behind the race and reach Veyo at approxi-mately 8:15am and Snow Canyon at approximately 10:15am. Alternate routes through

Santa Clara, Gunlock and Veyo will convey traffic north and south after 8:15a.m. A second

alternate route through Santa Clara will convey traffic north and south after 10:15am

through Snow Canyon State Park.
