(St. George, UT) - The Dixie Regional Medical Center received the 2010 HealthInsight Quality Award at the Utah Hospitals & Health Systems Association Annual Meeting last month. Dixie Regional is the only hospital in Utah and Nevada to receive this award for the past four consecutive years.

Marc Bennett, HealthInsight President and CEO, said “HealthInsight commends Dixie Regional Medical Center for its commitment to excellence in improving patient care." The HealthInsight Quality Award program, launched in September of 2004, promotes transparency in health care. It recognizes hospitals that achieve high levels of performance on care related to publicly reported quality measures in four significant areas of healthcare: heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical infection prevention.

The clinical topics measured for the award are designated as national healthcare priorities by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Accepting the award, Intermountain Healthcare’s Southwest Region Vice President, Chris Coons said, “The staff and physicians at Dixie Regional are dedicated to providing the very best in patient care and to win the award four times consecutively is a great tribute to their efforts.”

I have not seen excellent patient care the several times that my family member has been in there, in fact he was left with a HUGE dehiscence for more that 18 hours. He ultimately came down with a MRSA infection that after fighting for 6 months finally took his life. I would rather die than be treated at DRMC in St. George.
