  • St. George Police Arrest Mesquite Bank Robbery Suspect

    (Mesquite, NV) - Maurice Q. Cox, 33, of Akron, Ohio was arrested by St. George Police Monday afternoon at the Greyhound bus depot in St. George and charged with armed robbery of the Nevada State Bank at 1130 West Pioneer

    Boulevard in Mesquite Friday afternoon.

    Mesquite Police Department Public Information Officer Robert W. Everett said Mesquite Police Detectives identified Cox as the suspect upon reviewing bank surveillance video having had contact with the suspect earlier in the day and promptly issued an arrested warrant.

    A manhunt by Mesquite Police officers and FBI agents assisted by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department helicopter combed the Mesquite area. Mesquite detectives acting on leads they has developed alerted St. George Police that Cox may be on a Greyhound headed north. St. George Police detectives located Cox at the Greyhound bus stop where he was taken into custody without incident.

    Cox is charged with burglary, making a bomb threat and robbery with the use of a deadly weapon. He is currently in the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility at Hurricane, Utah. Cox is expected to be extradited to the Clark County Detention Facility in Las Vegas later this week.
