(Cedar City, UT) - The Utah Highway patrol reports that Patricia Hamilton, 74, of Enoch died in a crash just south of Cedar City at mile-marker 55 on Interstate-15 Tuesday. She was a passenger in a 2005 Nissan Altima driven by her husband Theodore, 77, traveling south in the left-hand lane around 10:35AM, the UHP said.

Hamilton lost control of the car, for some unknown reason, which spun around and clipped the end of a semi-truck trailer stopped in the right-hand emergency lane of the freeway.

Patricia Hamilton died at the scene. UHP troopers say she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash as was her husband Theodore. He was taken to Valley View Medical Center with serious injuries.

The driver of the Freightliner semi-truck and trailer Brian York, 41, of Erie, Pennsylvania and his passenger Charles Piatt, 48, of Rock Springs, Wyoming were not injured in the accident, according to the UHP. Both men were wearing seat belts. The accident remains under investigation by Utah Department of Public Safety.
