(Salt Lake City, UT) - The Director of Communications for Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert, Angie Welling will leave the Governor’s Office in mid-January.

Governor Herbert said, “As I made the transition into the Governor’s Office over the past 18 months, it was essential to communicate to Utahns my vision and policy priorities for the State of Utah. Angie played a critical role in getting our message out, and I am deeply appreciative of her significant contributions during this time.”

Welling has accepted the newly created position of Director of Public Relations at Love Communications, a Salt Lake City-based full-service advertising agency.

“It has been an honor to work with Governor Herbert and the dedicated team working daily to achieve the Governor’s vision for the State of Utah,” Welling said. “Although I am saddened to leave the Governor’s Office, I am excited for this new opportunity and am thrilled to join the team at Love Communications, one of Utah’s great community partners.”

Welling joined the Governor’s Office in June 2009. Prior to that, she served as public information officer for the Utah Department of Corrections. She also worked as a reporter for nearly eight years at the Deseret News, one of Salt Lake City’s two daily newspapers.

Welling has a Master of Public Administration from the University of Utah, and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.
