(St. George, UT) - Charles Dudley Humphrey passed away on February 12, 2011, in St. George, Utah. He was born January 14, 1923, in Beatrice, Nebraska. A Retired Major after 22 years in the US Army having served his country in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was decorated a Bronze Star as well as many other accommodations for his outstanding merit. He graduated Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science and also a graduate of SUSC with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Arts with Honors. Chuck taught school for a number of years and retired from Utah’s school system. He was an active member of the Dixie Elks Lodge and secretary for several years. He enjoyed hosting fundraisers for Camp Wapiti and the Veterans.
Chuck is survived by his son, Butch Humphrey and his two daughters, Nancy Maynes and Jan Humphrey; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his bride and love of his life, Jean Humphrey and his son, Mark Humphrey.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 19, 2011, at 1:00 pm at the Spilsbury Mortuary Chapel, 110 S. Bluff St., St. George. Interment will take place in the Tonaquint Cemetery.
