(Parowan, UT) - James D. Ruman, 50 of St. George, Utah died at the scene of a three vehicle crash near Parowan about 12:30PM Friday, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

Ruman was driving a civilian-owned, 2½-ton surplus military truck which appears to have completely over turn crushing the cab. A semi-truck trailer rig was also involved. The UHP said there is no evidence of alcohol or drugs involved.

An investigation continues in the cause of the accident which shut down northbound traffic on I-15 until about 2:30PM.

Jamie was a union brother and a co-worker on many long and dangerous jobs. To survive combat and then be killed on our roads by an inattentive driver is a tragedy beyond comprehension. This incident was a shock and my heart goes out to his wife and kids. You will be missed, go in peace.

I count two vehicles in the article, not three as per the headline. The military truck would have over-turned, not over turn.

My heart goes out the Ruman family. This was my best friend's only brother and she loved him with all of her heart. Mr. Ruman had served in the Iraq war and was one of many who help protect our country. Such a tragedy. Our prayers are with you, and may God wrap his arms around each of you and bring you comfort.

The driver of the Army truck was a good guy who had just picked it up from surplus. The entire military vehicle collecting community prays for his family and friends. www.steelsoldiers.com
