(St. George, UT) - Dixie State College of Utah’s Cultural Arts program has announced its 2011-12 Performance Series season, which includes over 40 instrumental, choral, theatre and dance programs held in the state-of-the-art Dolores Dore’ Eccles Fine Arts Center on the DSC campus.

For the fourth-straight season, Dixie State is offering a DSC Fine Arts Season Pass (excluding dance performances) for just $99, giving patrons access to all DSC theatre productions, instrumental and vocal concerts, for the 2011-12 season. In addition, a season Theatre-Only pass is available for $42, while patrons may also purchase a season Music-Only pass for $85.

For tickets and further information, please call (435) 652-7800 or visit the central campus ticket office at the DSC Avenna Center. Patrons may also purchase tickets prior to each evening’s performance at the Eccles Fine Arts Center Box Office or online at “tickets.dixie.edu”.

DSC’s theatre department will stage five major productions this season, beginning with the Larry Shue comedy “The Foreigner,” running September 29-30-October 1 and October 4-8, in the Mainstage Theater. Then in November, Dixie State College will debut the production of “Nathan Hale – One Man, One Choice, One Life,” with the original script and lyrics written by longtime DSC theatre professor Dr. Brent Hanson. “Nathan Hale” will open in the Mainstage Theater on November 10, and run for eight nights from November 10-12 and November 15-19.

The theatre program will also present “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)” in the Black Box Theater January 26-28 and January 31-Febuary 4; along with the Joseph Stein classic “Fiddler on the Roof” on March 1-3 and March 6-10; and will wrap up the year with a new adaptation of Homer’s “The Odyssey,” directed by DSC theatre faculty member Michael A. Harding, on April 12-14 and April 17-21, in the Black Box Theater.

DSC will offer a number of vocal and instrumental concerts and recitals this season, featuring Dixie’s talented students and faculty. DSC’s Symphony Band and Symphony Orchestra will each perform four times this season, as will a number of instrumental ensembles, including DSC’s Jazz, Brass, Percussion and Woodwind Ensembles. In addition, the music concert season includes multiple string and piano recital performances.

Patrons will also have the opportunity to enjoy DSC’s talented choral ensemble in four concert events in 2011-12, along with several faculty and student recitals throughout the season, while DSC’s dance department will present a pair of concert events to be held on December 1-2, and April 12-13.

In addition to the concert events, DSC’s Sears Art Museum Gallery will host several art exhibits this upcoming season, highlighted by the Silver Anniversary Robert N. and Peggy Sears Dixie Invitational Art Show and Sale. The Sears Dixie Invitational is recognized as one of the biggest art events in the state of Utah and runs from Feb. 18-through-March 25, 2012. The Museum Gallery’s season will also include four more exhibits showcasing the talents of the area and region’s best artists, including the annual DSC Showcase April 16-through-May 4, 2012, featuring works created by Dixie students, faculty and alumni.
