(St. George, UT) - Dixie State College of Utah will present its annual Homecoming Queen Pageant, as part of the school’s week-long Centennial Homecoming festivities, this Tuesday night, October 18, at 7:30PM, in the Avenna Center Cox Auditorium on the DSC campus. Tickets for the pageant are on sale now for $5 and can be purchased by calling the Avenna Center Ticket Office at (435) 652-7800 or online at tickets.dixie.edu.

This year’s Homecoming Queen pageant is the largest Dixie pageant since 1989 and the largest local pageant in the state this year, with 24 contestants vying for the title of Ms. Dixie State College 2011-12. The contestants will be vying for a full tuition scholarship and an opportunity to compete at the 2012 Miss Utah Pageant next June for a chance to advance to the Miss America Pageant in 2013.

The pageant hopefuls will be judged in physical fitness/swimwear, evening wear and talent areas of the competition, along with the customary onstage question and personal interview portions of the event. Canyon Media radio personality Shonie Christensen will serve as emcee of the pageant, which will also feature the contestants performing an opening dance routine to the Sean Kingston hit song “Fire Burning.”

For more information on the pageant, please call DSC Dean of Students Del Beatty at (435) 652-7514 or email beatty@dixie.edu.
