(St. George, UT) - Utah classic jet pilot Kay Eckardt made a successful emergency landing Friday afternoon at the St. George Airport in a vintage 1957 Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star aircraft painted like a US Navy Blue Angels fighter plane when one of the landing gears malfunctioned.

St. George Airport Fire and Rescue was notified and an application of firefighting foam was applied to the runway in preparation for the emergency landing.

After making four low level passes, Eckardt belly landed the vintage T-33 warbird and walk away without injury.

Eckhardt's T-33's featured at air shows are based at Wendover airport, Utah. He has the Blue Angels variant and a baremetal US Air Force version.
