The open house will held at SouthWest Community’s branch office located at 85 North 200 West in Hurricane, where sharp shooters can win big prizes and benefit the Hurricane High School. Guests can enter a drawing to win a $500 CD certificate, earn discounts on home mortgage appraisals and enjoy free pizza and drinks while supplies last.
Southern Utah residents are encouraged to sign up for “Hot Shots for Hurricane” in which participants have three minutes to sink baskets from a free-throw line with all proceeds donated to the Hurricane High School Athletic Department. The top three "Hot Shots" who make the most baskets will win a trip to Mesquite, Jazz tickets or dinner at a local restaurant.
Varsity basketball players from Hurricane High will be on-hand to greet guests and retrieve the basketballs. Children under eight will have their own competition called “Tot Shots,” in which they will have one minute to make baskets. The top children’s winners will receive VISA gift cards.
Myrna Stout, director of Mortgage Lending for Southwest Community Credit Union, said the event reflects the credit union's long-standing commitment to southern Utah. “We are member-oriented having opened to serve community resident 75 years ago," she said. The Southwest Community Credit Union open house in Hurricane is the financial institution's way of giving back to the southern Utah communities.
