(St. George, UT) –The NCAA announced the 64-team field for the Division II National Tournament and Dixie State College received the No. 6 seed in the West Region. Western Washington hosts the regional beginning Friday at Sam Carver Gym.

In the opening game, the Red Storm faces a familiar opponent – the Falcons of Seattle Pacific, the No. 3 seed representing the Great Northwest. Game time is 12:30PM. PST, 1:30PM Mountain, the first game on the schedule. The contest will be the opening game of the entire NCAA Tournament, since the West Region begins a day earlier than the other seven regions.

DSC lost its opening game of the 2011-12 season to SPU at home 58-42 on November 11. The season previous, the Storm took two games from the Falcons, including a 75-73 win in the West semifinal in Ellensburg, Washington.

Head coach Jon Judkins said his team is ready for the challenge, “We have been ready for a rematch with them since we lost that opening game. These guys are ready for the week of preparation.”

Senior point guard Maurice Cole said, “There is some unfinished business left”. Cole and his teammates remember the sting of losing in the West Region final to BYU-Hawaii last year and the season-opening loss to SPU in November.

Overall, the Falcons have a 3-2 all-time series lead over the Red Storm.
