(St. George, UT) - Washington County Water Conservancy District presented the 17th Annual Washington County Water Fair. Over 1,800 fourth graders from all over Washington County came to Dixie State College to participate in activities and classes about the importance of water in our community and the care of this limited natural resource.

The fair was held May 9th and 10th, at Dixie State College from 9:30 until noon. Thirty-three presenters both local and state-wide will taught topics such as: Weather Wonders, Water Rights in Utah, Color Me A Watershed, Water Colors: The Water Cycle in Art and Sparkling Water: The story on water treatment.

“It is all about learning how important water is for us and everything around us,” said Julie Breckenridge, event coordinator and Water Conservation Manager for Washington County Water Conservancy District.

A Water Jeopardy Game is also part of the experience where classes utilize their knowledge about water facts in a competition. Additional sponsors for this event include cities and towns of Washington County, Dixie State College, and Scholzen’s Products. Local merchants Harmon’s, Costco, Albertson’s and Wal-Mart have also contributed to make this a successful educational event.
