(Washington City, UT) - The death of 42-year old Donald Padilla enroute to work Wednesday morning at Washington City where he had worked for the last six-years in the Public Works Department came as a shock.

Roger Carter, Washington City Manager, may have said it best in his message to city employees Thursday morning:

"No doubt all of you have heard about the passing of a member of the Washington City family. Donald Padilla, while traveling to work yesterday was involved in an accident and passed away last night. Donald leaves behind a wife and children and was a good friend and co-worker to all of us. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at their time of need.

We would like to offer a couple of [suggestions] to those of us who worked and knew Donald. We have set up an account in Donald Padilla's name at Zion's Bank. Donations made be made at any Zion's bank branch. I am sure any contributions would be greatly appreciated by the family."....

Grief counseling is being provided by Washington City for employees those who desire it, Carter said.

"It is times like these that make us pause in our daily rush from this deadline to that assignment, from this task to that event and remember that the greatest thing we have is our associations one with another. I am especially grateful this day for my relationship with each of you, and want you to know that. Please know of my thanks for the things that you do and the lives that you make better-not just by what you do-but by who you are.

Please be careful not only in your job but in your comings and goings. I know we are all better people having known Donald, his good attitude and the friend that he was," Carter said.
