Fire crews continue to remove berms and reconstructing fences cut during suppression efforts. A Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) Team has been organized by the Dixie National Forest to evaluate the effects of the fire. Concern for possible post-fire effects, such as large debris flow from severely burned slopes and drainage's affecting down canyon resources and properties is a primary consideration in the development of a BAER plan. The cost estimate of restoration and rehabilitation of the burned area has not yet been determined.
The wildfire burned 94% on Dixie National Forest lands and 6% on private lands in Kane County, Utah. The public will continue to see smoke from the interior of the fire area until a season ending event, such as consistent monsoonal rains or a blanket of snow.
Remaining evacuations were rescinded as of 8:00 AM Tuesday morning except for Stout Canyon Road which remains closed at the north boundary of the Heaton Ranch and the Dixie National Forest through the fire area to SR-14.
Acting Dixie National Forest supervisor Kevin Shulkoski has issued a Fire Area Restrictions Order which remains in effect. (Order) - (Fire Area map)
