(St. George, UT) – Local educator, author and journalist, Loren Webb joins KCSG.com with his “Southern Utah Memories” chronicling the history, events and people who helped influence the communities of southern Utah.

Ed Merrifield, KCSG Television General Manager, said Webb brings 21-years of news reporting of southern Utah people, places and activities which will make “Southern Utah Memories” a special heritage moment for visitors to KCSG.com, southern Utah’s leading sources of information.

Merrifield said Loren brings a unique and special insight to southern Utah having grown up on a local dairy farm. His experience, discipline and personal touch in writing about the local area and people will be a superb asset to KCSG.com. We’re pleased to have him join our information team.”

“I am thrilled with the opportunity to share stories of southern Utah, some of which I have been accumulating for years hoping for an opportunity to share them,” he said. “The new digital era presents an exciting synergy with southern Utah's leading free online information source,” Webb said.

He has worked for several weekly newspapers, including the Southern Utah News in Kanab, Utah; The Richfield Reaper in Richfield, Utah, the Lake Mead Monitor (now Moapa Valley Progress in Logandale, Nevada) and helping edit the Vernal Express weekly newspaper for two years while teaching journalism and English at Uintah High School in Vernal, Utah.

His experience includes 12 1/2 years as a reporter for The Spectrum in St. George and four-years as a correspondent for the Salt Lake Tribune.

Loren is the author of the book “Milking Time: The History of Dairy Farming in Washington County, Utah” (2010).

He is a graduate of Dixie High School, Dixie College, received his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in journalism and history; and master’s degree in communications from BYU.

He and his wife Sharee are the parents of four children and live in St. George.
