    ST. GEORGE — The St. George Police Department has released a composite sketch Thursday of the suspect from a reported rape on a city bike path.

    The St. George Police Communications Center received information regarding a sexual assault on May 2, 2012 about 4:30 PM in which a 25-year-old female said she was jogging on the bike path and headed south toward the tunnel that runs beneath Sunset Boulevard when she was attacked and knocked to the ground.

    The victim said she was raped during the attack but managed to break free from the assailant and contact a family member. The victim was transported by the family member to Dixie Regional medical Center for medical attention.

    St. George Police Detectives responded to DRMC and met with the victim. Patrol officers canvassed the area surrounding the bike path including the businesses and residential areas around the path. Information was obtained from the canvass and follow up is being done. Several businesses are reviewing their surveillance tapes in an attempt to locate video of the suspect.

    The victim provided police with the following description of the suspect:

    * Caucasian male

    * 20-30 years of age

    * Approximately 5 foot 8 inches tall, medium build

    * Brown or Hazel eyes

    * Wearing a black bandana on his head

    * Wearing a black short sleeve shirt and black pants

    Anyone with information about this crime or the identity of the sketch should contact the St. George Police Investigations Unit at (435) 627-4330. Anonymous tip can be submitted using St. George Police Tips.
