(Cedar City, UT) - Go behind the scenes of the creative process and experience in-home art collections by attending the SUMA Art Studio and Home Tour. The Southern Utah Museum of Art (SUMA) Community Engagement Committee has developed its second annual tour which includes five artist studios, two in-home collections, luncheon at the home of SUU’s president and post-tour social with complimentary hors d’oeuvres at the Depot Grill. Tickets are now on sale for this day-long fundraising event. The Tour is scheduled for Saturday, August 18, 2012, and begins at 10:00am with a break for luncheon at noon and continues at 2:00pm until 4:00pm. Tickets are limited, and must be purchased in advance. Cost is $50 per person, includes tour and luncheon. Tickets may be purchased at the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery on the Southern Utah University campus, Artisans Gallery 94 West Center Street, Cedar City, or Groovacious Records 173 North 100 West, Cedar City.

The SUMA Art Studio and Home Tour showcases the creativity of five local artists who will explain their process in their work environments as well as spotlighting two remarkable local art devotees and their personal collections -- which include the works of renowned regional artists – not seen by the general public. Painting, ceramics, sculpture, photography and much more are among the media included in these exceptional collections.

A highlight of the luncheon will be an “Opportunity to Win” the original artwork created by southern Utah favorite Arlene Braithwaite for the Art Studio and Home Tour and the SUMA Art Hike posters. The donation for the “Opportunity to Win” is $10.00 per entry and may be purchased only at the luncheon.

Attendees must be at least 14 years of age and up. Each participant must have a ticket. Young children including infants are not permitted on the tour. No smoking, photography or pets in any of the homes will be allowed. For women, flat shoes are suggested due to the amount of walking on the tour. Note: two homes will require all participants to wear protective booties prior to entering home (booties will be provided). Participants must provide their own transportation. The tour is not handicap accessible.
