  • Women’s Soccer Draws with No. 13 CSU Los Angeles

    (St. George, UT) - The “beautiful game” returned to the pitch at Hansen Stadium on Thursday during day one play in the 2012 Dixie State Kickoff Classic. After 110 minutes of play, a spirited non-conference matchup between the hosts from Dixie State College and the nationally-ranked guests from Cal State Los Angeles ended in a stalemate, 2-2.

    Goals by Kristin Page and Jen Mason occurred within a two-minute span of the second half. The 13th-ranked Golden Eagles (0-0-1) took a lead in the 52nd minute after a scoreless first half. Page notched the equalizer from 20 yards out with an assist from Shelby Christensen.

    Mason put the Red Storm (0-0-1) up by a goal kicking a rebounded header to the left side of the net.

    CSULA found its tying goal in the 62nd minute off a nice pass from Heather Williams to Shereen Khoobbagha.

    The Eagles outshot Dixie State 6-3 in theovertime periods, but neither team found a goal for sudden victory.

    Abby Johnson saved seven shots in goal for the Red Storm.

    DSC looks for its first win of the seasonSaturday morning at 9 against Sonoma State. The Seawolves defeated Grand Canyon in earlier action Thursday, 4-1.
