Dixie State fell to 1-1-0 on the young season, while Colorado Mesa improved to 1-0-1.
Mario Escobar scored the lone goal after a DSC header toward goalkeeper Tyler Walters recoiled off his hands into openspace. Escobar deposited the ball into the left side of the net.
Each team took eight shots overall, yet Dixie State had the advantage on-goal six shots to three. DSC stepped up its production in the second half with six shots.
Francisco Garay and Michael Ropelato each had two shots for the Red Storm. Walters made two saves in net.
