Dixie State (0-2) did not have a game hitting over .186, but dramatically cut down on their errors.
Freshman middle Mercedes O’Neal once again posted nine kills, matching her output in Friday’s earlier match. Sheila Uluave added eight kills and the duo of Kristin Heywood & Shannon Young each had five.
The Red Storm took control early in game one, charging to a 7-3 lead. The Lady Mustangs (3-5) sprinted back with 9-1 run to take a lead they would never relinquish.
Similar happenings occurred in game two. The Red Storm had a double-up lead at 16-8only to see WNMU reel off nine consecutive points and 17 of the last 23 points to win the set.
In game three, the Mustangs hit their stride early. A third nine-point string on the serve of Angelina Pulu built a seven-point lead. DSC would fight to getwith four late in the set on an Uluave kill and three WNMU errors.
Dixie State will look for its first victory under head coach Robyn Felder on Saturday against Adelphi. First serve is set for 3 p.m. Mountain from Alaska.
