asked two members of the Washington County Commission to serve in key leadership positions within the National Association of Counties. Rodgers has asked Alan Gardner to serve as Chair of
the Management Subcommittee, Public Lands Steering Committee, and to serve as a member of the Rural Action Caucus Steering Committee. Denny Drake was asked to serve as Vice Chair of the Environment, Energy, and Land Use Steering Committee. NACo is the only national organization representing county government. The organization, driven by its strong membership, represents counties across America. County leaders develop and shape the association’s mission and goal. NACo’s committees, whose members include county officials from every region of the country, have a variety of responsibilities.
Committee leadership assignments are key positions. The various NACo committees review and
make recommendations on issues and legislation. For counties, such as Washington County, that
have a high percentage of federal land ownership, federal land and water policy is impactful and
significant. NACo is a powerful unifying voice for counties in Washington DC. Gardner also serves as Chairman of the Washington County Commission. Both Commissioners are excited to serve on NACo’s national leadership team
