(St. George, UT) – The Vet Center of Washington County is pleased to announce their official grand opening at their St. George location in the Dixie Commons office center. The new location opened in November 2011, occupying roughly 3200 square feet of space at 1664 South Dixie Drive. The Vet Center in St. George is a division of the Department of Veteran Affairs offering counseling and related services to veterans. The location within Dixie Commons in St. George is the first the department has opened in Southern Utah. The center is open from Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and also offers group services in the evening.

The Grand Opening event will begin at 10 am with the Presentation of Colors with the American Legion Post #90. Remarks will be from LCDR Bob Pinselaar, retired USN, Tim Adams, Team Leader for the St. George Vet Center, Lt. Col. Bill Toole, USMC, and others. Following the formal ceremony, the public is invited to enjoy grilled lunch, goodies and entertainment with KONY Country 99.9 FM. Live entertainment from The Candoo's begins at 2 pm.

Since their opening in Dixie Commons, The Vet Center and the veterans are finding the professional setting of the Dixie mixed-use office and retail center is exceeding expectations. Timothy Adams, Clinical Social Worker and Team leader of the new St. George Vet Center says “ We are excited to provide individual, family and group therapy to veterans having readjustment difficulties. The Dixie Commons facility is newly built and is believed to be one of the most beautifully constructed Vet Centers in the nation providing a very safe, comfortable therapeutic environment. We have very compassionate, knowledgeable therapists who are also veterans themselves and very committed to the work they do.”

Representatives from Dixie Commons comment that The Vet Center is a nice fit for the professional setting at Dixie Commons. "The Vet Center is a first-class organization supporting veterans who have given so much for the freedoms we all enjoy,” says Andrew Sorensen, Sales and Leasing Representative for Dixie Commons. “We salute them for their service and welcome them to our center."
