(St. George, UT) - St George’s 3rd CROP Walk to fight hunger will be put on by the St George Interfaith Council on Saturday, November 10 at 10 AM. This 6 mile “walk/run/saunter/eat the snacks” event raises money to fight hunger in St George and in the world. This year the money raised will go to Dixie Care & Share’s Community Soup Kitchen, to the Utah Food Bank and to projects throughout the world that fight hunger. St George Interfaith Council, who organizes the CROP Walk, includes 20 local churches including the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Presbyterians, Episcopalians, Methodists, Community of Christ, Solomon’s Porch, Baptists, St George Community Church, Jewish community, Catholics and other local congregations. CROP Walk name is taken from Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty and the walk distance of 6 miles is equal to that walked each day by people in 3rd world countries as they gather food, water and work. But the walkers will not go hungry on this walk since 5 local churches will have refreshment tables along the bike path route.
All are invited to walk with their neighbors and help fight hunger here in St George and in the world. The walk starts and ends in Larkspur Park in Bloomington Hills at the corner of Fort Pierce Drive and Larkspur Road. Parking is across the street. All are invited to come and be part of a wonderful community activity where some of us walk, some run, some just put money in the box and some just go to the first refreshment stand. Donations can also be made at www.cropwalkonline.org. Churches and businesses have formed teams and to get information on how to do this to help raise money for the CROP Walk contact Jim Roberts at gmsfool@earthlink.net or 669-1471.
