Dr. Lynn Vartan is thrilled to introduce Ronni Kit Wenzell to southern Utah music audiences. “Ronni is an amazing musician,” says Dr. Vartan. “His unique artistry will delight our audiences and students. His technique is impressive. As a percussionist, I have been wanting to collaborate with him on such a diverse program for some time.”
At an early age, Ronni Kot Wenzell began taking lessons in percussion with former Royal Orchestra musician, Ole Pedersen, and lessons in piano, theory and harmony with German pianist and composer, Edwin Kammerer. After a short period of time he enrolled in the Hørsholm Percussion & Marimba Ensemble which led to numerous concerts, tours in Europe and several CD recordings. Ronni has often worked with the renowned and award-winning American dancer and choreographer Ann Crosset. He has played, composed and produced music to some of her great works of choreography including “Dance, Dance, Dance” alias “The Varde Project” which toured in 2006, “Happy Birthday H. C. Andersen” for piano and sneeze which was premiered at The Royal Theatre 2007 and “Sweet Peas and Other Recipes for World Dance” as a great cooperation between Jordan and Denmark. “Sweet Peas” toured in Denmark and Sweden and received great acclaim in the media (TV2 News, DR1 News, Danish Radio P2 etc.). Ronni also enjoys photography, graphic design and layout beside his music, and has worked for The Fünen Opera, Carl Nielsen Academy of Music, The Royal Theatre, Danish Radio, International Makeup and Artist School, Benalcorp S.L.U (Spain), Edition Svitzer (Sweden) among others. Recently hailed in the Los Angeles Times for a “fabulously performed” solo, Dr. Lynn Vartan is percussionist for Southwest Chamber Music, two-time Grammy® nominee in the “Best Classical Album of the Year” and “Best Small Ensemble with or without a conductor” categories. Vartan has been featured on the Los Angeles Philharmonic Green Umbrella Series, the Different Trains Series and has soloed with the Music and the Court series in Pasadena, California, and the Sierra Wind Symphony. She is currently producing two solo albums which will be released next year. Vartan received her master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Southern California with special honors and recognition. She teaches percussion at Southern Utah University. Vartan recently completed her first solo recording, Dancing on the Head of a Pin, due for release by the end of the year.
