(St. George, UT) - The Southern Utah Home Builders Association (SUHBA) is pleased to announce completion of its 2012 Home Builders Care project – Building A Home for Lindsey. On Oct. 25, 2012, SUHBA will celebrate the ribbon cutting for a 1,560 square-foot home equipped with handicapped accessible features for a St. George resident with special needs.

The three-month project has included the contributions of more than 140 SUHBA members and other companies who have joined efforts in building a home for Lindsey who is disabled and limited to a wheelchair.

Called by her grandfather, “Sweet Lindsey,” she is a 21-year-old art student at Dixie State College who has been unable to use her hands or legs since birth. Her Grandfather, Glen Martin has been saving for years to purchase a home with accommodations for Lindsey’s special needs. Now struggling with health issues, Martin approached SUHBA to help make his wish for Lindsey come true.

The home includes special features that will make Lindsey’s daily living a little easier. Some features include a key pad entry to enter the home, electronic cabinets in the kitchen, and countertops at a lower height. There are many things we take for granted living in our homes and Lindsey struggles with tasks every day.

The mission of SUHBA and the Home Builders Care Foundation is to strengthen communities in Washington County by assisting with charitable construction related services to individuals in need, enhancing the quality of life in Southern Utah. Last year, the SUHBA Home Builders Care project included an expansion and remodel of the St. George Doctors Volunteer Clinic.

The ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 at 3 p.m., at the new home. For the address, or for more information about this year’s Southern Utah Home Builders Care project, please call (435) 674-1400.
