The road trip will mark the end of a 14-game home stand where the Thunderbirds went 6-7 with victories over Centenary, Oral Roberts, Utah and South Dakota State and a game still to be made up with UNLV.
Thunderbird bats really carried the team during the stretch as the team averaged .357 from the plate with 15 home runs and totalled 88 runs. Joe Goldenberg led the charge with a .436 average with five home runs, 18 RBI and 46 total bases. Goldenberg was one of four T-Birds to bat over .400 during the games, joined by Marcus Romero (.429), Taylor Shaw (.424) and Bo Cuthbertson (.421).
Goldenberg has led the team from the plate most of the year, currently leading the team with a .431 batting average, 12 doubles, nine home runs, 37 RBI, 89 total bases and a .767 slugging percentage. However, it is Bucky Aona who is making the most of his senior, climbing to the top of the SUU record books in career at hits (231), doubles (45), RBI (138) and total bases (348).
The 16-game home stand was also strong for T-Bird pitching as the staff was well under the staff ERA of 8.53 on the year with a 6.30. Justin Neubauer and Kyle Melling each recorded complete game victories with Melling leading the team with 20 strikeouts during the stretch.
First pitch for the four-game with the Bison is set for 6:30 p.m. (CT) on Friday evening. Live stats of the game will be available online at www.suutbirds.com. Stats for the doubleheader on Saturday and the single game on Sunday are also anticipated to be available.
