This is a heavy construction zone and alternative travel routes are advised during construction to avoid delays. Alternate routes will be marked for travel around the closed Santa Clara river bridge on Valley View Drive. The project is schedule for completion by July 30, 2010.
Presently construction crews are working on the Phase 2 of the new bridge structure forming the new deck and end walls for placement of concrete in the bridge deck. Construction is done during the evening hours to avoid the hot daytime temperatures. Crews are working Monday through Saturday between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. until the project is completed.
The original Valley View Drive river crossing was washed out in the 2005 flood disaster. The 6.2-million dollar project has been made possible by funds from a federal government Economic Recovery Stimulus project grant. The project consists of grading, drainage, riprap in the river channel, sidewalks, driveways, highway lighting system and resurface the pavement in the project area. The project consists of a 220 ft. span bridge with 5 lanes, sidewalk, trail crossing, road reconstruction and river improvements.
