(Pintura, UT) - The Utah Highway Patrol is investigating a fatality accident that occurred at about 5:00pm northbound on I-15 near mile marker 30, the Pintura exit. A semi-truck was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed and lost control after attempting to stop. The rear trailer on the semi swerved into the southbound lanes striking a white Kia SUV head-on.

Russell W. Welsh, 63, and Emelda Welsh, 57, of Finleyville, Pennsylania died on scene. The UHP reports Southbound I-15 has been closed at mile marker 30. Traffic was backed up on I-15 for over 3 hours while the wreck was cleaned-up.

I work with Russ and he was one of those guys you remember forever. He was just getting ready to retire. It is extremely sad.
