Virgin Valley High School is located in Mesquite, Nevada, 80 miles north-east of Las Vegas along the Arizona-Nevada border. VVHS is considered to be one of the oldest continually operating schools in the state of Nevada. It is accredited by the Northwest Accredtiation Commission and is one of forty-one high schools in the Clark County School District. Although Virgin Valley High School is a part of the fifth largest school district in the nation, it has an individualized environment serving the educational needs of approximately 750 students, grades nine through twelve. Students at Virgin Valley typically have more unique opportunities for involvement in leadership, sports, music, and drama than students at larger schools. We at VVHS perceive education as a process, not a product, and we are continually striving to improve this process.
The community is very supportive of education. Each year local business and individuals award scholarships to graduating students. The graduating class of 2010 received over $88,000 in local Scholarships. Community businesses also support a "Student Support Committee" which raises money to help provide programs for students which otherwise would not be available.
The Virgin Valley High School Mascot is the "Bulldog." Bulldog teams have competed successfully in all areas of girls and boys athletics, winning many Conference, Division, and State Championships. During the 2009-2010 school year VVHS teams were AAA Nevada State Champions in Girls Golf, Boys Baseball and Pole Vaulting, as well as Region Champions in Girls Volleyball, Girls Basketball, Girls Golf, Boys Basketball, Boys Golf and Boys Baseball. Virgin Valley also received the honor of being the AAA Academic State Champions for Boys Cross Country.
