Witnesses told police two of the suspects, 18-year-old Vincent Edward Garibay and 23-year-old Joe Martinez, were arguing with three men at a house on the 2600 East block of 610 North. The suspects fired multiple gunshots at the three men from across the street, hitting one of them, according to Hepler.
The victims drove to Mesquite, Nevada, to go to the Mesa View hospital. They told police that the shooting happened in Mesquite, but investigators determined it actually happened in St. George and notified police there.
St. George police have recovered a shotgun and pistol, said to have been used in the shooting, and arrested three suspects.
Vincent Edward Garibay was booked into jail on three counts of aggravated assault and attempted murder. His bail has been set at $80,000.
Joe Martinez was booked into jail on three counts of aggravated assault. His bail was set at $30,000.
Angela Fuga Martinez, Joe’s wife, also was arrested and booked into jail on obstruction of justice. Her bail was set at $5,000.
The man who was injured is in stable condition, according to Mesquite Police Lt. Troy Tanner. The victims were from a northern Utah gang according to St. George Police Officer Johnny Hepler. The suspects were associated with a local gang known as Sureno 13, he said.
