(St. George, UT) - A request for speedy trial hearing was filed in Fifth District Court Tuesday by Walter F. Budgen, attorney for Warren Jeffs after the Utah Supreme Court overturned convictions on rape as an accomplice and sent his case back to state court for a new trial. The high court said theere were errors in the judge's instructions given to the jury that deprived Jeffs of a fair hearing.
The Fifth District Court this morning scheduled a hearing at 9:00am on August 18, 2010 at the St. George Courthouse before Judge James Shumate on this matter.
