(Salt Lake City, UT) - Governor Gary R. Herbert has appointed Karla Staheli as a Juvenile Court Judge in the Fifth Judicial District.

"Karla Staheli has dedicated her legal career to representing the children of the State of Utah," Governor Herbert said. "She is uniquely qualified to sit as a juvenile court judge, and I have great confidence that she will serve with distinction."

As a Guardian ad Litem in the Fifth and Sixth judicial districts, Ms. Staheli has represented abused, neglected and dependent children in district and juvenile courts in Central and Southern Utah. Prior to that assignment, she served as a Deputy Iron County Attorney.

The Fifth Judicial District serves Beaver, Iron and Washington counties. The Governor's appointment is subject to confirmation by the Utah Senate.
