(Fredonia, AZ) - Coconino County Chief Deputy Jim Driscoll speaking on behalf of the Incident Command Team and responding agencies met with news media Saturday morning. Chief Driscoll said there are 36 agencies and 318 law enforcement officers involved in the incident, plus additional support staff. The Arizona US Marshall's office announced a ten-thousand ($10,000) dollar reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of Scott Curley. Reward Poster

A felony warrant for first-degree murder was issued Friday for Scott Curley, 23, of Fredonia, Arizona, in the ambush slaying of Kane County Deputy Sheriff Brian Harris Thursday afternoon. The suspect used a stolen high-powered scoped rifle during a foot chase to gun down Harris and fire on other Kane County officers pursuing him in the desert 3-miles east of Fredonia.

K9 Teams and SWAT Teams are being used in the search effort along with air support from the Utah and Arizona Departments of Public Safety. Reported sightings of the suspect have not been confirmed as authorities continue their intense and laborious search of the area where Curley is thought to be located.

Local residents who know Curley say he is very familiar with area and could have easily slipped through the perimeter established by law enforcement. It's ironic that the biggest manhunt in southern Utah history is taking place at the same time the community is celebrating western gunfighters and movies of the old west filmed in Kane County. Many residents are uneasy and concerned about their community thought to be immune from events that have occurred and the media attention the community is receiving because of the incident, he said.

This biggest retail weekend of the year began Thursday in Kanab with the 12th Annual Western Legends Round-up celebration with parades, movie stars and family fun commemorating the days of the old west and movies filmed in Kane County.

Anyone who makes light of this event has obviously never felt the pain of losing a close friend or family member. This is a time for maturity and remember the wife and daughters that have been left behind, not to mention the extended family throughout Utah. Hopefully this madman will be captured before he causes another sensless death or injury.

The Arizona chapter of the Concerns of Police Survivors are saddened by yet another loss during a year when the national line of duty deaths of law enforcement officers is up over 25 percent. Utah normally experiences no losses or maybe one. This is Utah's fourth in 2010. We offer aur condolences and along with the Utah chapter will be assisting the families and effected co-workers for years to come. Det E Fisher Phx P D and AZ C.O.P.S.
