Curley, the object of a massive manhunt by nearly 400 law enorcement officers, was arrested early Monday morning in the Lost Springs sub-division near Kanab. A local resident awaken by his dogs looked out his window to see what appeared to the suspect near a water tank and called 911. Tactical teams surrounded the residence and took Curley into custody with any incident.
He will be transferred to Arizona from Kane County jail to await trial for the first-degree murder warrant issued by Coconino County in the shooting death of Deputy Harris. Bail of $500,000 cash was set earlier for the defendant on the first-degree murder charge and $100,000 cash bail for forceable entry and burglary at the Lost Springs residence where found and taken into custody.
There has been no statement issued by the Coconino County Attorney David W. Rozema on who in his office will try the case. His office did release a statement Tuesday of express appreciation for the cooperation of Utah authorities stating it will continue to give this matter the utmost priority.
The court set September 9th for a hearing on the Utah felony charges of Attempted Aggravated Burglary and Criminal Trespass that alledgedly occurred at or near a residence in Kane County, Utah, at about the time Curley was taken into custody.
Curely remains in the Kane County jail.
