    (St. George, UT) - The Southern Utah Heritage Choir presents a Heritage Choral Festival Concert Saturday, September 11, 2010 featuring Dr. Brady R. Allred as the guest director at 7:30PM in the Cox Auditorium, 225 South 700 East in St. George, Utah 84770. Open to the public. Admission is Free.

    The announcement by Dr. John H. Mizukawa, Heritage Choir president, said "the event is our gift to the local community. Dr. Allred, an acclaimed American conductor of choral and orchestral music who currently serves as the Director of Choral Studies at the University of Utah. He conducts the award-winning University of Utah Singers and the A Cappella Choir and serves as the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Salt Lake Choral Artists, a regional choir organization comprised of five choirs with 350 singers that has been critically acclaimed for its innovative concerts and Summer Choral Institute program," said Dr. Mizukawa.

    The Heritage Choral Festival is comprised of six choirs rehearsing with Dr. Allred for a combined choir-choral performance of six musical selections. Participating groups include the Southern Utah Heritage Choir directed by Floyd Rigby, Southwest Symphonic Chorale directed by Dr. Robert Briggs, Dixie State College Concert Choir directed by Dr. Ken Peterson, Lieto Voices directed by Norman Lister and the Desert Hills High School Choirs directed by Molly Person.

    Dr. Allred is bringing a select group of 40-singers to participate in the choral festival and his wife Carol Ann, an accomplished soprano, who will perform in the final concert Saturday evening.

    Rehearsals for the Heritage Choral Festival concert will be open to interested community members and music students of all ages. The rehearsal schedule is as follows:

    Friday, September 10, 2010 - 6:30PM - 9:30PM - Rehearsal with Dr. Brady Allred (all choirs), Cox Auditorium.

    Saturday, September 11, 2010 - 9:00AM - 12:00PM - Rehearsal with Dr. Brady Allred (all choirs), Cox Auditorium.

    Saturday, September 11, 2010 - 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Rehearsal with Dr. Brady Allred (all choirs), Cox Auditorium.

    The Southern Utah Heritage Choir is a voluntary community choir with over 200 members whose mission is to "Bring People Closer The Savior Through Music." The organization was founded in 1994 as part of the Southern Utah Heritage Commemoration by Dixie and Anne Leavitt with Floyd Rigby and continues in its 15th year celebrating the love of Christ, family, community and country through music.
