(St. George, UT) - Utility contractors are re-locating utilities in the Confluence Trailhead area. Recreationists should use caution and be aware of equipment and construction personnel. Landscaping in the Confluence Trailhead area is evolving in preparation for the new interchange.

The Confluence Trailhead Park is closed. All recreation activity has been moved to the new parking lot and trail access East of the closed park. The trail will remain open and useable from the new entrance.

    * The Virgin River Trail is open.

    * The Hilton Drive Trail is closed to all activities.

Washington County Contractors showing Sheet Piling installation in the median of I-15 is finished. Sheet piling installation along the Southside of the new Dixie Drive has begun and will continue for the next three months. This Sheet Pile Wall will protect the new Dixie Drive against possible erosion damage.

A 100-ton lattice Boom Crawler Crane is on-site to facilitate placement of the Sheet Piling sections. I-15 traffic has been shifted to the outside lanes in both directions.

*Cross-over lanes continue to be constructed and will be utilized in the future to move all lanes of I-15 to the southbound side. The move will create a more efficient and safe work area.

Golf Course - On October 1 the Southgate Golf Course will celebrate the opening of their new front-nine. All 18 Holes will be open and ready for play. To see the new configuration of the Southgate Golf Course go to Dixie-St. George Interchange. The back-nine, driving range and practice facilities are currently open.

Concrete barriers are installed in the I-15 construction zone. Speed limit in the construction area is 55 mph. Fines double in the construction zone. Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit.
